ABERTO SOLO is a new program of solo exhibitions conceived from the relationship between artists and spaces of cultural significance. Each edition is born from the encounter between artistic practice, architecture, memory and context, proposing occupations developed especially for each place.
For the first ABERTO SOLO edition, Luísa Matsushita occupies both floors of Teatro Cultura Artística with the show "Tudo que eu sei, eu aprendi à noite" ("Everything I know, I learned at night"). The artist created a new series of paintings and objects, along with an unreleased site-specific work, that engage with the space, exploring her experiences in São Paulo nightlife and the relationship between the Theater and the surrounding Baixo Augusta area — the neighborhood where she lived early in her career.
The show revisits a historic vocation of Teatro Cultura Artística: since its origins, Rino Levi envisioned an integration between architecture, art and cultural life, understanding the visual arts as a constitutive element of the audience's experience.
